New Terca team gets green light

Underlining its commitment to sustainable building solutions, Terca has formed a specialist team responsible for the company’s green credentials and meeting customers’ future environmental objectives.

The new ‘sustainability group’ will develop a range of initiatives aimed at further minimising Terca’s impact on the environment and increasing energy efficiency. One of the team’s key objectives will be to develop a range of bricks made using materials from alternative, recycled and secondary sources (MARSS).

“Forming the sustainability group ensures we can proactively develop our ‘green strategy,” said Anthony Wood, Terca’s environmental manager and leader of the sustainability group. “By continuously reviewing and implementing new initiatives, we believe we can play a critical role in helping to deliver the sustainable communities and built environment of the future.

“Developing more eco-friendly bricks is just one of our aims. We will also be working closely with our nine manufacturing plants to further improve their environmental strategies and performance. For example, we are going to implement ‘green brick awards’ that will recognise exceptional environmental management by factory teams. Michael Driver, director of the Brick Development Association, will help to judge the awards with assistance from Terca’s technical experts. The winning team will receive a cash donation for a local environmental charity of their choice.”

To provide customers with further information on its key environmental initiatives, Terca has also produced a ‘sustainability brochure’, which is available for download by clicking on the link below.
