This week, we're celebrating National Apprenticeship Week and highlighting the incredible opportunities available at wienerberger. We believe in investing in the next generation of talent and are proud to offer a range of apprenticeship programs that provide valuable skills and experience.
Hear from our Apprentices and those who support them:
Rob Jollands, Engineering Training Manager:
"Our four-year apprenticeship programme is designed to give trainees the time, support, and experience they need to develop into fully qualified team members. The journey starts with a year of off-the-job training at a trusted provider, where apprentices build a strong technical foundation before stepping into our production sites. This ensures they’re well-prepared for the hands-on challenges of real-world engineering. Once on-site, apprentices work alongside experienced professionals, learning directly from those who know the job best."
Tracy Short, Learning & Development Advisor:
"At wienerberger, apprenticeships are more than a box-ticking exercise; they’re a commitment to building skills, boosting confidence, and enabling success. My journey through the Learning & Development Practitioner apprenticeship is just one example of how we’re striving to embed a learning culture within our organisation.
By celebrating National Apprenticeship Week, we’re not only showcasing the value of these programmes but hopefully encouraging others to explore how apprenticeships can transform their own lives. Whether it’s a young person entering the workforce, someone more experienced like myself, or a business seeking to invest in its talent, apprenticeships are an invaluable pathway to the future.”
Jackson Kean, CIMA Finance Apprentice & wienerberger Apprentice of the Year 2024:
"A saying that resonates deeply with me is: “You are the average of the people you spend the most time with.” This couldn’t be truer in the context of my apprenticeship. A crucial aspect of an apprenticeship is learning on the job, absorbing knowledge from experienced colleagues. Every interaction provides an opportunity to gain insights, and I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors who have played a key role in my development. Apprenticeships thrive on collaboration and knowledge-sharing, and I am incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received.
One of my proudest moments to date was not only being nominated three times but winning the ‘Apprentice of the Year’, at last year’s Employee Awards. It was such a great moment, and it was only made possible by the people who have helped me along the way."
We are currently seeking passionate individuals to join our engineering apprenticeship program! This program is designed to develop the next generation of engineering talent, and it's a perfect fit for those who are interested in a rewarding career in the building materials sector.
