The EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is a new regulation that introduces harmonised rules for packaging placed on the EU market. It is designed to reduce packaging waste and improve packaging design, recyclability, reuse and waste management across EU member states.
From 12 August 2026, businesses placing packaged products on the EU market are required to provide a Packaging Declaration of Conformity on request. This confirms that the packaging used for a specific product or SKU meets the relevant PPWR requirements.
