The Draw on a Brick competition, hosted by EH Smith and wienerberger, once again showcased the incredible talent and creativity within the architectural community. The theme emphasised the foundational role of drawing in the world of architecture.
Chris Williamson, the newly elected RIBA president for the 2025-2027 season, judged this year’s competition. He noted that the judging was particularly challenging due to the exceptional level of skill, design talent, thoughtfulness, and creativity demonstrated in the brick designs. Williamson emphasised the importance of competitions like Draw on a Brick in fostering creativity and innovation within the architectural community.
Held at the EH Smith Design Centre in Clerkenwell, the awards ceremony was a celebration of the competition’s winners and an exhibit of the exceptional creativity on display this year. Attendees enjoyed live music, delicious canapes, and drinks as they mingled with fellow competitors and architecture enthusiasts.
The competition saw a high standard of entries, making the judging process challenging. The winners were chosen based on their creativity, originality, and alignment with this years’ theme.
In addition to the main winners, three highly commended awards were given to Allaina Tariq from Holmes Miller, Donika Llakmani from PRP and Pepe Pozo from Foster & Partners.
As the competition continues to grow in popularity, we’re already planning for next year’s event.
Thank you to all who participated in the Draw on a Brick competition 2024!
