Our Innovation Centre: A Hub for Creativity
To foster a culture of innovation, we have established a dedicated Innovation Centre. This state-of-the-art facility houses our talented innovation team, who are passionate about developing cutting-edge solutions. Since 2019, we have increased our workforce in innovation roles by 44%. This demonstrates our commitment to driving groundbreaking advancements within the construction industry.
Take a look into our behind-the-scenes efforts.
The launch of our Innovation Document, Let's Build for the Future We Want: Our Innovation Insights underscores our commitment to driving innovation and sustainability within the construction industry, a key pillar of our wider sustainability strategy, ‘Let’s Build Beyond’.
“wienerberger’s drive to innovate is inspired by the global challenges of our time and our responsibility as a leading provider of building solutions.” states our COO, Keith Barker. "We recognise the urgent need to address climate change, skilled labour shortages, and evolving customer needs. By embracing innovation, we can create a more sustainable and resilient future.”
Key Innovation Areas
Our Innovation Document highlights three key areas where we are focusing our efforts:
Manufacturing Processes: We are dedicated to developing and deploying cutting-edge technologies and processes that reduce our environmental impact and enhance operational efficiency.
For example, our Broomfleet factory will become Europe’s first large-scale clay roof tile plant to eliminate the use of natural gas in firing, significantly reducing carbon emissions and benefiting our customers.
Circular Initiatives: We are committed to going beyond recycling by creating products, services, and business operations that minimise waste and conserve resources.
For example, we have reduced plastic packaging through initiatives such as thinner shrink wrap, and the elimination of coloured ink in our packaging, enabling better recycling and reducing waste.
Product and Service Innovations: We are developing innovative products and services that help our customers reduce the carbon footprint of buildings and adapt to the changing climate.
For example, our innovative in-roof solar solution is designed to save valuable time and labour on new build projects by enabling quick and easy installation of solar panels directly onto roof battens.
This document amplifies how we are innovating for the future, equipping our customers with the quality products and services they need to tackle these issues. As an industry leader, wienerberger is pioneering solutions that not only address current challenges but also anticipate future needs, ensuring our customers have the tools and resources to build a more sustainable and resilient future.
