Governance and reporting

Strong foundations for responsible business

Building for what’s next means being clear about how we make decisions, how we measure performance, and communicating progress accurately. That’s why strong governance and transparent reporting sit at the heart of our global sustainability programme, helping us manage our environmental, social and ethical commitments responsibly, supported by clear oversight, defined responsibilities and robust data.

We have a global approach to identifying and managing material Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues, guided by formal governance structures and clear standards for ethical conduct.

Reporting, information and data management

Good reporting starts with good information. Sustainability insight flows both top‑down and bottom‑up across the organisation. Country‑level sustainability experts share insight with peers across regions and with the Director of Public Affairs & Corporate Sustainability, who reports to the CEO of wienerberger.

The collection and processing of sustainability data falls under the remit of the Group CFO and the CFOs of each region/country. We use a central data management system, Non-Financial Group Reporting (NFGR), to collect and manage non‑financial performance data. wienerberger UK & Ireland contributes sustainability data to this system, supporting strategic decision‑making and annual reporting.

wienerberger’s annual sustainability statement meets the requirements of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (hereinafter ESRS). For further information on the economic performance of the Group, its organizational profile, and its corporate governance, please refer to the current wienerberger Annual Report.

We also support transparent communication by our customers and partners, by reporting the environmental impact of our products via Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).

Supply chain management

We operate a group‑wide Supplier Code of Conduct, developed with internal and external experts, which sets expectations for responsible business practices. Since 2019, selected suppliers have been assessed using EcoVadis, an independent sustainability ratings platform.

Supplier sustainability performance and risk ratings are combined with commercial information in our Supplier Relationship Management tool. This supports a structured and consistent approach to evaluating suppliers and managing sustainability‑related risks in the supply chain.

wienerberger UK & Ireland falls within the scope of Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and publishes an annual Modern Slavery Statement. This outlines the steps taken to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains.

Anyone working for, or on behalf of, wienerberger UK & Ireland who believes a breach of ethical business practice has occurred, or may occur, is encouraged to report concerns via our anonymous whistleblowing line following the process outlined in our Modern Slavery Policy.

Pay equity and fair reward

Equal pay for work of equal value is an important legal and ethical commitment for wienerberger UK & Ireland. Equal pay means men and women are paid the same for doing the same or equivalent roles.

In line with UK legislation, each year Wienerberger Limited publishes a Gender Pay Gap Report. The gender pay gap shows the difference between average pay for men and average pay for women across the organisation. It is not the same as equal pay, and a gender pay gap may exist even when equal pay practices are in place, due to the uneven distribution of males and females across different roles and job levels.

Anti‑bribery, corruption and tax transparency

Mandatory training on anti‑bribery and corruption is provided for employees in relevant roles. Our purchasing terms require suppliers to comply with applicable anti‑corruption laws and to report any breaches.

Wienerberger Limited also publishes a Tax Strategy Statement, outlining our approach to tax governance, risk management and compliance, in line with UK legislation.

Continuous improvement

Governance and reporting are continuously reviewed to ensure they remain robust, relevant and aligned with evolving expectations, regulation and best practice. By strengthening oversight, data quality and transparency, we support the credibility of our sustainability strategy and our commitment to building for what’s next responsibly and with integrity.
