Handling, installation, maintenance and disposal guidance

This guidance supports the safe handling, installation, use, maintenance and disposal of our roof tiles and should be read alongside relevant UK legislation, British Standards and industry best practice.

For technical support, please contact our technical team.

Roof tiles must be handled and stored to prevent injury and damage that could compromise performance. Tile and pack weights are provided in the Data Sheet, products should be transported securely, stored on firm, level ground, and any storage on scaffolds or roofs must follow BS 8000-6 and site-specific risk assessments. Damaged or defective tiles should not be installed.

Installation and maintenance must be carried out by competent persons in accordance with BS 5534, BS 8000-6, relevant Building Regulations and the Work at Height Regulations 2005. The roof should be periodically inspected for damaged, slipped or missing tiles and debris build-up, and maintained using methods that do not damage the product. Failure to install or maintain correctly may affect performance. For guidance, please refer to RTA care, Maintenance and repair of clay and concrete roof tiles.

Waste from installation or end-of-life removal should be handled with care and materials segregated for reuse or recycling where possible and disposed of safely.
