Castlethorpe Homes sought to create a development that respected the village character of Charndon through traditional external design while delivering modern, high-performing homes for families. The Meadow View project reflects the company’s values of quality, community, and sustainability, combining architectural authenticity with energy efficiency and long-term durability.

Drawing inspiration from traditional Buckinghamshire vernacular, the homes at Meadow View feature considered brickwork, coursing, and banding to give each elevation depth and craftsmanship. The selected Wienerberger facing bricks and Sandtoft roof tiles provide the natural variation and tonal warmth needed to sit comfortably alongside neighbouring historic properties.

While the exteriors capture the charm of rural village homes, the interiors are bright, spacious, and designed for modern living — featuring vaulted master bedrooms, open-plan kitchen spaces, and high levels of insulation for energy-efficient performance.

Castlethorpe Homes collaborated with wienerberger to identify the most suitable brick and roof tile solutions to achieve both aesthetic and performance goals. The chosen materials allowed for flexibility in design, ensuring consistency of supply and quality throughout the build. wienerberger’s technical support and product guidance ensured that detailing, coursing, and finishes were delivered precisely as envisioned.

As a small, design-led housebuilder, Castlethorpe Homes required reliable products that could withstand the site’s exposed conditions and maintain quality during winter installation periods. Close coordination between the developer, brickwork contractor, merchant, and wienerberger’s technical team ensured product protection, smooth delivery, and consistent quality across the development.

In line with Castlethorpe Homes’ sustainability principles, Meadow View prioritised the use of UK-manufactured materials and local supply chains to reduce embodied carbon. The homes achieved EPC B ratings through a combination of fabric efficiency, high-quality materials, and durable construction. The inclusion of landscaped gardens, a wildflower meadow, and biodiversity planting further enhances environmental performance and resident wellbeing.
