wienerberger year in review: celebrating 2025 achievements

At wienerberger UK & Ireland, 2025 has been a year of growth, innovation, and remarkable achievements. As we look back through the year, we are incredibly proud of the milestones we have achieved in collaboration with our diverse teams, customers, and partners. From architectural achievements to supply chain innovation, health and safety leadership, and personal successes, the year has been defined by a shared commitment to excellence across every part of our business.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on some of the awards and recognitions that made our 2025 truly special. 

We are passionate about quality and design and that was celebrated at the 2025 Brick Development Association (BDA) Awards, which recognizes outstanding achievements across the UK construction industry. We were privileged to have eighteen (18) of our projects shortlisted across categories including Craftsmanship, Housing, Urban Regeneration, Innovation, and Commercial; out of which our bricks played a central role in four winning projects:

• Housing Development (2-100 units) – Lambton Park | Retro Mayfair Stock & Milano

• Urban Regeneration – Ross Street Mews | Mozart Blend

• Innovation – TIDE Bankside | Smeed Dean London Stock

• Architects’ Choice – Marylebone Place | Smeed Dean London Stock

These awards highlight the versatility of clay brick architecture and reflect how we can support our customers in creating a resilient, sustainable, and beautifully designed built environment that meets the needs of today while anticipating the demands of tomorrow.

In November, wienerberger was named winner at the Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2025, standing out among 220 entries for our dedication to continuous improvement, strategic partnerships, and sustainability.

This recognition reflects the hard work of our teams and partners to deliver exceptional value and resilience across our supply chain, as well as showcases the power of collaboration with our valued partners: Van Moer Logistics, Fast Lines Belgium, Verhelst Groep, and the Port of Tilbury London, across four countries.

Safety remains at the heart of everything we do and this year, the Pledge Awards celebrated our outstanding contributions across our sites and teams who continually champion Health & Safety.

The recognitions include:

• Individual Recognition Award: Lauren Briggs, Health & Safety Partner (Tiles), honoured as an emerging talent.

• Special Recognition Award: The Suspended Load Project Team (Mel Hoyle, Richard Janssen, Gary Clark, Ian Wordsworth).

Site-specific achievements include:

• Vehicle & Pedestrian Management at Broomfleet (Tim Dudding).

• Zonesafe Proximity System Installation at Todhills (Stephen Simm).

• Engineering Machine Shop & Recreational Area at Ewhurst (Tim Burgess).

• Additional honours for innovation at our Sandtoft and Sandown sites.

These awards show our unflinching commitment to creating safe and efficient workplaces across our sites. 

Additionally, our roofing solutions earned industry acclaim at the 2025 Pitched Roofing Awards, hosted by RCI Magazine, where we were recognised in two project categories alongside our partners and contractors:

• Sustainability Project of the Year: East Riding of Yorkshire Council Energy Efficiency Retrofit Programme – delivered by Geo Houlton & Sons in collaboration with wienerberger.

• Best Use of Concrete or Clay Tiles for a Commercial Project: The Hawthorns School – executed by Richard Soan Roofing Services in partnership with Keymer Tiles.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council Energy Efficiency Retrofit Programme stands out for its seamless integration of high-performance materials, expert installation, and long-term sustainability benefits, all completed within a live housing environment. 

While staying true to our commitment to advancing renewable solutions and supporting the industry’s transition to greener practices, we were honoured as a finalist at the NFRC UK Roofing Awards 2025, one of the most prestigious events in the roofing sector. 

The project, which showcased the innovative use of solar roofing technology to meet the energy efficiency goals of a modern educational facility, reached the final stage in the Solar Roofing category with our Sandtoft-supported project for the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) School of Veterinary Medicine.

Adding to our list of achievements, wienerberger proudly brought home two prestigious honours at the National Buying Group (NGB) Conference 2025:

• Roof Supplier of the Year

• Highly Commended Brick & Block Supplier of the Year

These awards reflect our commitment to delivering quality products and exceptional service to our customers and partners across the UK & Ireland.

Over the year, our sister company, Pipelife Ireland, received several accolades from three (3) different award institutions. They include:

• Manufacturer/Supplier of the Year – Highly Commended for Pipelife Ireland Solutions. 

• Residential Project of the Year – Large, awarded to Garraí an Choill, Galway, supplied by Pipelife Ireland Solutions. 

• Shortlisted for Medium Business of the Year.  

• Patricia Conroy shortlisted in the Lean Champion of the Year category.

• Acted as category sponsor for Construction, Engineering and Manufacturing as well as Guaranteed Irish House Champion. 

• Ger Healy, Managing Director, was nominated for the Guaranteed Irish Advocate Award.

Our other achievements include: 

10. Structural Timber Awards 2025 – Project Sponsorship

Glidevale Protect (BPD), one of our specialist roof systems brands and an innovation hub within wienerberger, sponsored the Project of the Year category at the Structural Timber Awards 2025, celebrating sustainable timber construction and architectural excellence.

As part of the wienerberger family, Glidevale Protect, who are a member of the Structural Timber Association (STA) and long-standing supplier to the offsite, brings advanced roofing accessories and technical expertise to our comprehensive building envelope solutions.

11. SkillBuild 2025 – Roof Slating & Tiling Competition

Glidevale Protect also served as the official sponsor for the Roof Slating and Tiling category at SkillBuild 2025, supplying its VP400 pitched roofing underlay for the heats and national final. This sponsorship was our own way of supporting skills development and the next generation of roofing professionals.

12. Employee Awards: Celebrating Our People

In May, we gathered at Hogarths Solihull for the  2025 wienerberger UK Employee Awards, a day dedicated to recognising the incredible individuals and teams who make wienerberger a great place to work. Alongside celebrating outstanding achievements and contributions, we also honoured employees with long service milestones and those who delivered exceptional results throughout the year.

2025 has been a year of progress and success, and we are proud of what we’ve accomplished together. These achievements stand as a testament to the hard work of our people, the strength of our partnerships, and our shared vision in building for what’s next. This year has set the stage for an even brighter future, and as we look forward to 2026, we remain committed to our core values: trust, creativity, passion, and respect, while we continue to innovate and lead.
