Inside Pipelife: Jason Burke shares insight on delivering quality piping systems for customers

A career built from the ground up
With three decades of experience developing his expertise in producing plastic piping systems at Pipelife in Ireland, Jason Burke, Mixing Plant Supervisor reflects on his contributions and the impact he has made across the business in delivering quality products for our customers.
“I joined the organisation in April 1996 when it was still called Cork Plastics. Beginning my career as an operator on the production floor, over the years I progressed through multiple departments, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing process from the ground up. This experience has provided me with extensive hands-on knowledge and the opportunity to work alongside and learn from many talented colleagues.”
Now leading the mixing plant, Jason ensures that products meet the highest standards to meet customers’ expectations.
“As a Mixing Plant Supervisor, my role is to ensure that every batch of piping materials we produce is consistent, accurate, and meets strict quality standards. I oversee the preparation of raw materials, coordinate with operators, and monitor mixing parameters to maintain efficiency and precision throughout the process. I am also responsible for promoting a safe working environment by ensuring all safety procedures and protocols are followed. This includes conducting regular safety briefings, ensuring the correct use of PPE, and carrying out routine equipment inspections to help minimise risk and maintain operational reliability.”
For Jason Burke, maintaining reliability through strong processes and teamwork is central to delivering for customers.
“I ensure consistency by following standardised procedures, using detailed recipe specifications, calibrated equipment and thorough raw material inspections. I also monitor production metrics and address issues promptly to maintain quality, efficiency and process reliability.”

Speaking on managing work challenges in a fast-paced environment like Pipelife, Jason highlights the important factors required to drive production forward.
“One of the biggest challenges in the mixing process is maintaining consistency while managing raw material variations, production demands and tight schedules. Small changes in materials or equipment performance can impact the final product, making attention to detail essential.”
Despite these challenges, Jason takes great pride in his work, the purpose it serves, and above all, the people he works with.
“What makes me most proud is knowing that the work carried out in the mixing plant forms the foundation of the high-quality products our customers rely on every day. I also take great pride in supporting and working alongside the team to maintain a strong work ethic and a safe, reliable production environment. After thirty (30) years with the organisation, it is rewarding to know that the experience and knowledge I have gained continue to contribute to our overall success.”
While building for what’s next, Jason’s focus remains on the future of his impact.
“Looking ahead, I see my role continuing to evolve with a greater focus on process optimisation, efficiency and innovation within the mixing plant. By continuously improving processes, embracing new technologies and staying ahead of industry trends, I believe we can further support building for what’s next. Whether through faster turnaround times, advanced formulations or improved sustainability, I believe experience, teamwork and continuous improvement will continue to play a key role in delivering reliable, high-quality products for our customers.” — Jason Burke.
