We’re proud to share that two projects featuring wienerberger roofing solutions have been shortlisted as finalists in the NFRC Roofing Awards 2026, recognising outstanding workmanship, performance and design across very different but equally impressive applications.
From large-scale social housing retrofit with integrated solar technology, to a high-end residential refurbishment rooted in heritage craftsmanship, these projects highlight the breadth of wienerberger’s roofing portfolio and the expertise of the contractors who bring them to life.
The Jigsaw Homes retrofit project at Calder Avenue and Mayfield Garden, Chorley, has been shortlisted in the recently created Solar category, celebrating its forward-thinking approach to energy efficiency, resident wellbeing, and long-term roof performance.
As part of a major roof replacement and upgrade programme, Jigsaw Homes required a solution that would:
All while remaining cost‑effective, compliant and efficient to install.
A key factor in the project’s success was the use of RoofSpec+, wienerberger’s fully designed roofing specification and guarantee service. By taking a whole-system approach which covered design, components, fixings and installation guidance. RoofSpec+ ensured long-term performance and compliance, backed by a comforting 15 year RoofSpec+ performance guarantee.
The roofs were stripped and rebuilt in line with RoofSpec+ design guidance, including bespoke batten layouts, wind load calculations and fixing schedules. This gave confidence to all stakeholders while supporting fast, consistent installation across the large housing stock.
The lightweight Sandtoft in-roof solar modules integrate flush with the roofline, delivering a clean, contemporary aesthetic while enhancing energy performance.
Across the two sites, almost 2,000 PV panels were installed, helping residents benefit from reduced energy bills and supporting wider sustainability targets.
The project was delivered on time and within budget, with 100% positive feedback against key performance indicators, a testament to collaboration between Jigsaw Homes, DLP Services, and wienerberger.
“It looks absolutely amazing. In fact, it’s stunning. You drive onto the road now, and it just looks like a different place. The solar panels are going to help us financially in the future, so I’m really pleased. A big thank you to the team.”

At the other end of the spectrum, the Baslow Road project in Eastbourne has been shortlisted in the Roof Tiling category, recognising exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail on a prominent, character-filled residential property.
The project involved the extensive refurbishment of a seven‑bedroom, four‑storey detached home, with a brief focused on:
To achieve this, the roof and vertical tiling were renewed using Keymer Shire Heritage plain tiles and fishtail feature tiles. Handmade clay tiles were essential in retaining the building’s character, particularly across the roofscape and decorative vertical tile-hung elevations.
The natural variation inherent in handmade tiles required a high level of skill to achieve consistent coursing, tight detailing and a refined finish. From hips and valleys to leadwork and decorative banding, every element demanded careful setting-out and traditional craftsmanship.
Set against white-rendered lower levels, the Keymer clay tiles deliver a timeless, elegant appearance, elevating the property’s presence on the street while ensuring long-term resilience. The project demonstrates how traditional materials, when expertly installed, continue to meet modern expectations for quality, compliance and performance.
Installed in full accordance with BS 5534, the finished roof blends heritage aesthetics with robust construction, an approach that sits at the heart of the Keymer brand.
The NFRC Roofing Awards celebrate the very best in the industry, from innovation and sustainability to craftsmanship and collaboration. To see two such contrasting projects shortlisted, both using wienerberger solutions, underscores the strength of our product portfolio and the importance of system-led design, technical support and trusted partnerships.
We’d like to congratulate all those involved in both projects and wish them the very best of luck at the NFRC Awards 2026.
