At wienerberger, we believe that the people who build with our materials shape the future of construction, and we recognise our responsibility to support the sector in helping close the skills gap across the UK construction industry.
That is why, for the fourth consecutive year, we have supported Super Trowel UK, a competition dedicated to celebrating bricklaying excellence, inspiring future talent and helping address the industry's skills gap.
On 31 July and 1 August 2026, our team attended the Super Trowel Finals at Hertfordshire County Showground, supporting participants as they showcased their incredible skills across the Junior, Pro and Masters categories.
The two-day event brought together apprentices, emerging talents and experienced professionals to test their abilities, learn from one another and celebrate excellence in bricklaying.
Throughout the event, our team was on site at our brick and rooftile stands, supporting competitors, connecting with visitors and showcasing a range of brick and roofing solutions. Visitors were invited to take part in hands-on bricklaying activities at the wienerberger stand, giving people of all ages the opportunity to experience the skill, precision and craftsmanship that underpin the trade.
As part of our commitment to support the competition, we donated more than 100,000 bricks to Super Trowel, enough to build approximately ten three-bedroom semi-detached homes. These bricks were used throughout the competition, from regional qualifying heats through to the national finals, enabling competitors to demonstrate their skills on a professional platform.
Our support extended beyond supplying materials and included:
While Super Trowel is best known for its search for the UK's Fastest Bricklayer, the competition represents something much larger than speed alone. It’s about passion, precision, craftsmanship and inspiring the next generation of construction professionals.
Participants in the Junior and Pro categories were challenged to build a wall using a thousand and one (1,001) wienerberger bricks within one hour. While the Masters category challenged competitors to produce complex and visually striking brickwork designs over a ten-hour period using a selection of these of our special bricks:
At wienerberger, supporting skills build initiatives is about more than sponsoring an event. It is about creating opportunities, developing talent and helping ensure the industry has the skilled workforce it needs for generations to come. By partnering with Super Trowel UK, supporting apprentices and professionals alike, and providing the resources needed for hands-on learning, we remain committed to building for what's next and helping shape a stronger future for UK construction.
Congratulations to all the winners and finalists for their remarkable performances and dedication to the trade.
