Engaging with young people through careers events

wienerberger has been part of Lincolnshire showground’s Construction Week event for several years, engaging with thousands of young people of both primary and secondary ages.

The flagship event aims to raise awareness and interest in the diversity of careers available within the Construction Industry.

Over three days, the Showground is converted into a workshop for over 16 different activities including; joinery, plastering, plumbing, building, painting and decorating.

Over 100 students each day get the chance to not only have a go during the practical hands-on sessions but are also able to quiz industry professionals on what day to day life in construction is like.

wienerberger has hosted our incredibly popular clay craft activities for the young people as well as practical brick work sessions with our Technical Team.

We have also run ‘Tree ID’ sessions in the local grounds, aiming to enthuse young people around environmental issues and demonstrating the importance of sustainability in construction.

This is just one of the many career events wienerberger attends each year, alongside hosting young people at our sites and offices for workplace visits and our STEM Ambassador programme.
