Creating a Home for Birds at Broomfleet
wienerberger's controlling team combined team-building with restoration efforts, collaborating with the RSPB.
At our Broomfleet site, Wienerberger takes an active step in protecting wildlife by collaborating with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). This initiative ensures our quarry restoration creates a thriving habitat for coastal and wetland birds.
Our controlling team got involved in the restoration efforts through a team-building activity that engaged employees in meaningful environmental action.
Wienerberger team members worked alongside RSPB experts to plant new hedgerows and trees at the Broomfleet site. These plantings provided essential cover for wildlife, encouraging birds to nest and insects to thrive in a more supportive ecosystem. The addition of trees created perches and nesting spots while also contributing to cleaner air and improved soil stability.
Beyond its environmental impact, the project fostered a strong sense of teamwork and corporate responsibility among wienerberger employees. Volunteering in hands-on conservation efforts allowed participants to connect with nature while contributing to a meaningful cause. This experience not only strengthened their understanding of biodiversity challenges but also encouraged a deeper commitment to sustainability within the company.
The newly established habitats now offer a safer environment for local bird species, while the increased vegetation supports a diverse range of insects. Over time, these efforts will help restore ecological balance and encourage more wildlife to flourish in the area.
