This quarry is owned and operated by wienerberger. We’re one of the largest producers of clay bricks, blocks and tiles in the world.

What happens at Todhills Quarry?

At Todhills...
clay extraction takes place at the nearby Long Lane Quarry, a well-established site that supplies shale used in the brickmaking process. The quarry’s shale consists of distinct layers, each with unique properties that are carefully blended to create the ideal raw material mix for the Todhills product range.

  • Mid-1930s – Brickworks established on the former railway station site.
  • Ongoing – Clay extraction from the well-developed Long Lane Quarry.
  • Shale layers – Distinct shale layers blended for optimal brickmaking.
