Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update - 26.03.2020

Wienerberger UK's Covid19 update

Wienerberger UK is committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of all our employees, customers and supply partners, and to the sustained performance of our business.

We are continuing to follow the advice provided by the Government and Public Health England to minimise the spread of the virus, and to closely monitor and mitigate the risks posed to our operations.

Immediate Changes to our Operations

By monitoring the changing landscape daily, we have decided to close our manufacturing facilities with immediate effect until the end of April. We will continually review the situation and act accordingly. This closure is to ensure the safety of all our employees, supply chain partners and the wider UK population. By taking this decisive action we are working to the latest advice from the Government.

Supporting our customers

All production in our factories has ceased, with minimal staff remaining in place to support the safe decommissioning and closure of our facilities. However, we recognise that some products may be needed urgently by customers working to ensure construction projects are made safe. Therefore, we will continue to despatch products from existing stock whilst it remains safe to do so.

If you have a question regarding existing or new orders, you can contact our customer support teams using the details below.

Taking care of our people for the long term

Our aim throughout this period is to retain our employees and safeguard their physical and mental wellbeing so that we are in a strong position to resume normal operations once we are through this unprecedented time.

A number of our employees will be furloughed for the month of April. We will be operating with minimal staff during this short period to ensure business continuity and we are keen that our people can return to their same jobs with greater security, when this period is over.

These are very difficult decisions, facing leadership teams in many companies today across the UK and further afield. We understand that this will create challenges for all our suppliers, customers and will be most acutely felt by our own employees. The industry impact is significant, but we are committed to doing the right thing - putting people first - and doing our best to ensure we are in the best shape possible when this period passes.

We believe the construction industry will be a key player in the stabilising and reshaping of our economy in the months to come and we are confident that we have the right skills and infrastructure to cope with this major economic challenge. We remain here to continue to work in close cooperation with all our customers and supply chain partners to protect businesses, employees and to emerge from this period in a strong position to take on the challenges ahead.

Best regards,

Keith Barker
