Apprentice at a Wienerberger factory

Who Helps Us Deliver Our Apprenticeships?

The Wienerberger team are passionate about the opportunities for learning and development that apprenticeship schemes can offer our employees. We invest time, money and hard work into running our apprenticeship schemes, but we can’t do it alone.

We collaborate with several experienced training providers who work closely with our apprentices to pass on expertise and teach new skills, setting them up for future career progression.

Read on to find out more about some of our apprenticeship partners and the invaluable support they offer Wienerberger and our apprentices.

Eliesha Training Ltd

According to research by the UK Government, Managers and Leaders are amongst the least likely to receive formal training and development in the UK.  The Business and Innovation survey revealed that 71% of firms are failing to offer training to first-time managers and 43% of UK managers rate their own line manager as ineffective – only one in five are trained/qualified.

Wienerberger have opted to take a different approach, as it our vision to develop our managers and leaders to the highest internationally recognised standards of knowledge, skills and behaviours through our commitment to the Leadership and Management Apprenticeship programmes.

As a result, Wienerberger has partnered with Eliesha Training Ltd to run a series of apprenticeships in Leadership and Management at Level 3 and Level 5, offering both the apprenticeship and an ILM qualification. These courses cover subjects such as time management, strategic thinking, communication skills and budget management.

The current programmes at Wienerberger are now coming towards their conclusion and we have already seen people passing the qualification with merits and distinctions, with a number of the participants gaining promotions and increased responsibility.

Sheffield Hallam University

As a leading provider of degree apprenticeships, Sheffield Hallam University works more than 400 organisations and professional bodies to develop and deliver programmes that meet industry needs.

Wienerberger staff are currently studying of business management programmes with Sheffield Hallam University, combining on-the-job with university study. They come to University around four times a year for a block of 3-4 days to study a subject and then go back to put that new knowledge into action. As well as studying for a degree, Wienerberger learners will also gain a professional award from the Institute of Leadership & Management.

HWGTA

Herefordshire and Worcestershire Group Training Association (HWGTA) is an employer led, not for profit training provider offering bespoke apprenticeships for local businesses and communities. HWGTA has over 50 years of experience in delivering excellent training across the two counties.

Wienerberger’s relationship with HWGTA first started in the 1980s with a Level 3 Maintenance apprentice. More recently in 2017, HWGTA successfully recruited two apprentices on to the Technical Mechatronics pathway, who are currently in their final year.
